The Camp Adair Legacy Project exists to preserve and share the history of every man and woman who served, trained, worked, or volunteered at Camp Adair during World War II.

My inspiration for this project comes from my own grandfather, who served during World War II. When I sought information about his service, I discovered that because he was not part of a combat unit, very little was documented or available about where he served, what his unit did, or the role they played. I realized that his story was shared by thousands of others whose contributions have largely been forgotten.

This project is dedicated not only to the four combat divisions that trained at Camp Adair, but also to the military police, hospital staff, secretaries, engineers, mechanics, civilian employees, Red Cross workers, entertainers, volunteers, and countless others who kept the camp operating every day. Their service was just as essential to the war effort, and their stories deserve to be remembered.

Through photographs, maps, historical research, personal stories, and educational resources, this website allows visitors to experience Camp Adair as it was during World War II. Whether exploring the barracks, mess halls, training grounds, theaters, post exchanges, or hospitals, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of daily life for the men and women who lived and worked there.

By preserving these stories, the Camp Adair Legacy Project honors the sacrifices and contributions of everyone who made Camp Adair an important part of America's World War II history, ensuring that their legacy will be remembered for generations to come.
