The field house was one of the most important and versatile buildings at Camp Adair. Designed as a gymnasium and multipurpose facility, it served a wide variety of functions throughout the war. The building was used for military training, educational lectures, and large gatherings that could accommodate hundreds of soldiers at a time. Religious services, including Easter Sunday celebrations, were often held there for crowds of 400 to 500 men. The field house also hosted recreational activities and athletic competitions, including basketball games, boxing matches, and other sporting events, making it a central gathering place for soldiers both on and off duty.
