On April 19, 1944, Camp Adair opened a bowling alley to expand the recreational opportunities available to its soldiers. Located directly behind the Field House, the facility quickly became a popular place for troops to relax and unwind after long days of training.

The bowling alley hosted league play and tournaments, providing friendly competition and an important boost to morale. Soldiers could rent a bowling lane for 15 cents, making it an affordable form of recreation. Along with the theaters, service clubs, athletic facilities, and post exchanges, the bowling alley helped make military life at Camp Adair more enjoyable by giving soldiers a welcome break from the demands of wartime training.
