Civilian employees played an important role in the day-to-day operation of Camp Adair. Because they worked on an active military installation, all civilian workers were required to carry identification badges and display parking permits to gain access to the post. They worked in a wide variety of jobs that helped keep the camp running efficiently.

Civilian employees worked throughout the installation, including at the station hospital caring for patients, in the Post Exchanges (PXs), the post laundry, warehouse and supply facilities, and the Post Engineer's Department. Their efforts supported the Army's mission by allowing military personnel to focus on training while civilians handled many of the essential support services needed to operate one of the nation's largest wartime training camps.
